I am a senior studying Environmental Design. I am from Plano, Texas and aspire to one day live and work as a designer in San Francisco. Since my freshman year at A&M, I have cultivated not only my career path, but also my interests. Architecture, reading fictions, philosophy, psychology, indie rock music, traveling, history, sketching, animation, filmmaking, and adventure seeking: just to name a few. There has been a huge learning curve since college started, but I don’t intend to stop there.

I am an environmental design major from Harlingen, TX and will be graduating in May 2015.  My involvement with the AIAS started in 2011 as a freshmen member, and I have maintained my involvement as an advertising committee member as a sophomore and a career fair coordinator as a junior.  This year as the 2014-2015 Treasurer, I want to put the AIAS in a position to do more for students than it has done in previous years by ensuring there is a clear budget to efficiently organize this year’s events.

Hi! I am Starla Schmidt, an Environmental Design major from the Tyler, TX area. As a product of my desire to design and create, I chose to pursue architecture. However, as I arrive at the end of my time as an undergraduate, through experiences in studio, study abroad, AIAS conferences, and summer internship, I have become aware of the fact that the thing I am most passionate about in architecture is people.
